The Hockey World Championship will be held in Latvia (Riga) and Finland (Tampere) from May 12th to May 28th 2023. 16 national teams will participate in the tournament, including the Latvian team, which has been traditionally supported by the Rietumu Bank.
The tournament is the 86th world contest organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Teams from Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and USA will fight for the title of champion.
In this tournament, like in previous years, the Rietumu Bank is the official partner of the Latvian Hockey Federation.
The member of the Council of Rietumu Bank Valentīns Bļugers says: “Our bank has collaborated with the Latvian Hockey Federation for many years. We support our athletes and are rightfully proud of our national team’s victories, whenever they represent Latvia on the world stage. We will be rooting for our boys in the upcoming tournament! This year marks the third time the Hockey World Championship is held in Latvia, previously having visited the country in 2006 and 2021.
The games held in Riga will take place at the Arēna Rīga ice rink,
opening the tournament with a game between Slovakia and the Czech Republic on
May 12th. Latvia and Canada will be playing later the same day.

An exhibition of paintings by Latvian artists from Rietumu Bank’s collection will be open at the Art Museum Rīgas Birža from April 28 to May 28. The exhibition will feature around 50 artworks created in the period from the 1920s to the 1990s, including some that will be exhibited for the first time.
