The fund of the famous opera diva Inese Galante has announced the start of accepting applications for participation in the Seventh annual competition “Inese Galante’s Talents”. This competition, which Latvian musicians and vocalists can participate in for free, is held annually with the support of Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund.

“Inese Galante’s Talents” is a lasting wide-scale programme for supporting talented soloists and musicians who perform classical music of different genres. According to the organisers of the competition, due to the personal involvement of its patroness Inese Galante, many winners are already successfully conquering world stages.

Winners of the competition traditionally receive an invitation to take part in all musical events organised by the Inese Galante Fund and in other prestigious events.  Thus, on 31 January, during an official reception in the President’s palace in honour of the final stage of the annual campaign “Our Search for the Best Nurse”, the following winners of previous competitions “Inese Galante’s Talents” will perform: Arnita Lipska (saxophone), Artur Zhurbin (piano) and Sonia Misina (marimba).

According to Inga Shina, Chairperson of the Board of Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund, “When supporting this remarkable competition, we become even more aware of a big number of talented people, children and youth in our country, who are taking their first steps on the big stage. It is very important to provide them with support at this early stage, to allow them to open and develop their talent, in order to become high-level professionals in the future. I invite all who dream of a musical career to take part in this competition, receive valuable experience and then move forward confidently.

I am especially glad that this year winners of previous competitions will perform at the awards ceremony of our campaign “Our Search for the Best Nurse”, where the best nurses of the Children’s Hospital will be announced. I am sure that this will bring real pleasure to all participants - the spectators, the performers and us as the organisers.”

The  jury of the competition “Inese Galante’s Talents 2018” includes experienced schoolmasters and professional musicians.

Video and forms from applicants are accepted on the official website until  8 March. To participate in this prestigious competition, Latvian vocalists and musicians playing keyboard, string, wind and percussion instruments are invited. Applications are also accepted from winners and participants of previous competitions. Participation is free.

Winners in each category will receive money awards and scholarships, as well as an opportunity to develop their musical career further on.
